An interesting story of sorts. Not so much a horror story as one that is interestingly eerie with moments of frightening action. The eerie is better presented than the action - but there is action.Product details

The Boats of the Glen Carrig (Audible Audio Edition) William Hope Hodgson Mark Turetsky Spoken Realms Books Reviews
When I read this book, I wasn't aware of the direction it was going to go. That just made it all the more incredible. The mystery and chilling atmosphere puts this as an instant favourite of mine.
Boring
thanks
Always a big fan of Hodgson, from my first read of his, "The House on the Borderland", this one is a keeper! He has an amazing ability to create an eerie, uncanny setting that is like nothing ever created before, and gives one profound goosebumps in the process. His writing style is unusual, deliberately eccentric, but he manages to keep the pages turning, and is eminently readable. Survivors of a shipwreck discover a weird land with ominous nightly sounds, scary nocturnal beasts that try to attack them, and even the undergrowth is profoundly unfriendly! The first-person narrative relates all this weirdness in a matter-of-fact way that makes it all the scarier. Highly recommend this one!
