Things don't go according to plan on the venture but some things do over time.
Love the detailed descriptions of the places and events of the holiday, seasonal weather and even new words for me.
Just one really gory part with a hammer but this would make an awesome movie-similar to ones I've seen on TV and enjoyed. Kind of like gangsters doing what they do.
Lots of action, adventure, drugs, love and especially love the cave and everything it stands for.
Jeff and Scott do have the plans to make it all work but there are wrinkles along the way-Angela is taken...
Like what elephant tree stands for them all in the end.
Just a handful of characters that intertwine as the story goes on. Easy to keep track of them all.
Found there is an extra story within this one: past lives of their parents, letters come to surface that play a big part in the end.
Found English way of spelling words kinda throws me off a bit. Was a cool book to hear from the drug dealers side of the story and how things run for them.
Would like to read more from this author.

The story surrounds an over worked detective, Mark Fallon. The story follows Fallon as he is investigating a cluster of attacks at very prominent night clubs in the area. The intriguing novel takes place in the middle of a realm of criminals and drug dealers. The Elephant Tree is not your typical thriller and Ronald did a fantastic job creating even more intrigue and excitement with all the twists and turns in the plot which make it very difficult to put this book down. The Elephant Tree is definitely a page turner. I felt that the characters were very well written and fleshed out to the point that it felt as though you personally know them. This novel is a provocative clandestine delight to immerse yourself in. This novel is definitely a must read!
Great feeling of suspense throughout this crime thriller, as it follows the protagonist Scott, as he searches for a way to give more meaning to his life. He plays around with using and dealing drugs, gets caught up in the related turbulence and violence, but ultimately the reader feels empathy - he's not such a bad guy. The literary style of Ronald's writing is accessible and welcoming. The story rattles along at a high speed, dealing with gritty situations that feel real, and in a thrilling and dynamic way. There are also really introspective moments where the pace drops back but the intensity is ramped up pulling you right into the scene. This is a book that I was glad to discover and one I am going to pass on to friends.
Weak character development, slow plot, disjointed and slightly poor writing. There really was no plot until the half way mark and by then I was in a hurry to finish and move on to the next book on my list. I really didn't enjoy this one at all.
The not-so-subtle dark tones of this book really grab you and pull you through each page. The story did take a chapter or two to really pick up pace, but even in the first couple chapters the prose keeps you engaged. The closer you got to the end the faster the book moved, the action whisking us away in rapids.

Scott struggles in this story, a victim of himself. The drugs are almost an escape for him. We see early on that there's life in him beyond the grind of selling and using. He is by far the best character in a book full of characters dripping with personality.

With that being said, the characters certainly make the story amazing. Twinkle, Angela, Fallon, Jack…all of them really breathe life into an already lively (albeit dark) plot. The best part is that it feels real, like this could happen.
An interesting story which absorbs you and you can stay for a long time!!

It was easy, interesting and quick to read. I also want to mention the characters that the author has developed throughout the book. Detective Fallon, Angela and Scott - they are all so well developed in the book that it feels as if you know them in life. Mark Fallon is an overworked detective of the nightclubs. Scott is a dejected 24 year old to make ends. This is a book about the formation of personality, about consequences and relationships.
I liked this book much, now I want to recommend it to everyone. I think you’ll enjoy. It's one of the few books that I enjoyed tons!
“The Elephant Tree” is a good book to read on a weekend when you know you can keep turning those pages until you know what happens at the end. I started it at the beginning of the week and couldn’t wait to have some more time to finish the book.

I guess what made the book so compelling for me was not only the plot but also the characters, who almost come alive before your eyes. “The Elephant Tree” is full of descriptions - people, places, objects, and it all can be visualized easily, even if you’re not the most imaginative type. My imagination does run wild when presented with detailed descriptions, so it made reading this book all the more enjoyable. In addition, the characters are kind of “down to earth” and believable, so you don’t feel like you’re reading a fiction novel that’s desperately trying to imitate real life.
