I received a copy of this story to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here it is. Victory Payne has had the worst night of her life or so she thought. She was dumped by her boyfriend and kicked out of the band, now she finds herself sleeping in her car. When she wakes up, she has a really bad pain in her neck for the way she had to sleep. So she takes a walk to work out the kinks and when she gets back to her car, it has been broken in to. Things stolen including her fathers guitar. What is she gonna do now? When she gets to work and tells her bosses what happened, they offer her a guitar to busk and get her some cash. While she is playing she sees Kellan and one of his many femme flakes. When Kellan talks to her the blonde gets agitated and wants to leave. When Victory is packing up, there are some kids on skateboards playing around her. When she gets knocked over and lands on her borrowed guitar, it is smashed too. Can Victory ever get a break? Will she see Kellan again. There is such a chemistry between them but Victory is not ready for a rebound relationship. She needs to clear her head and figure out what she is gonna do. Will Kellan find her again? This story had drawn me in from the very beginning and I am about to start part 3.

Loved this series! Great peak into the world of musicians. It's not your typical rocker book, but I loved that about it because it was so different. Not everyone makes it big time, but they still have great stories to tell. Such a unique perspective with fantastic characters that you can't help but become invested in!
Victory Run 2 was just as phenomenal as the first book. Devon Hartford is an amazing author. I am so impressed with the original story line and the depth of the characters in this series. I absolutely adore Kellan and Victory. Their chemistry, both romantically and musically, is off the charts! Victory is determined to make her dreams a reality on her terms. Who wouldn't admire that?? I can only imagine that book 3 with be equally as amazing as the first two. I can't wait!!
I'm so hung up on the people in this series . Devon never fails to bring it when it comes to colorful characters. I'm so hoping that Kellan and Victory conquer their challenges and find one another again.
I'm reviewing this late because my was misplaced and I was unable to read V 2 until now. So I will just say you cannot go wrong with Mr Hartford . He will entertain you and keep you coming back for more.
I keep saying he knew these people and he's telling their story.

Once again Devon grabbed my attention and pulled emotions out of me throughout the entire book!
SWOON Julian, Kellan Julian, Kellan! Decisions decisions!!! Victory is passionate about her music and is determined to make it in the business of metal!! She has terrible luck and then bam a little break! Life is not always kind but as they say EVERYTHING happens for a reason, even though me may not understand at the time it happens! Hop on this rockin journey and learn more about Victory and Kellan and hold on tight! Absolutely fantastic writing style!
Okay Devon...where's the next one is all I can say!!! D Loved the Samantha Smith Series if you have not read you need to, as Victory was introduced for a moment in last one... Alpha males are HOT!!! Devon gives them just enough attitude and cockiness to fall in love with the characters...females he seems to make them week unto themselves while everyone else sees them differently...don't we all?! LOL...He hits on subjects that yes are rich but are sure of themselves but yet are true to their friends and loved ones, also they are willing to give anyone a chance.
Devon Hartford has shown us how talented he is as a novelist, artist and musician (check out youtube!) Victory Run 2 is as outstanding as book 1! I love that Devon writes Victory as a STRONG, YOU MAY KNOCK ME DOWN, BUT I'M GETTING BACK UP, IN YOUR FACE kind of gal. ( I don't think I could read it if she was some wimpy, whiny thing) You feel every high and low that Victory's meets as well as her hesitations toward Kellen; although you know they are both drawn to each other she tries to keep it friendly. Her ex Scott is still a douchebag, though we really didn't hear much from him in #2. Anxiously awaiting to see (in the final installment) if we find out why Victory won't sing, (we will, I'm sure) hoping Scott will fall on his big fat ego! Will Victory's ex bandmates who were like brothers to her, realize Scott is a total douchbag and leave his band to regroup with Victory? Will we meet her dad? Will she and Kellen get together? All kinds of questions...Hurry Devon, can wait to find out what happens!!!
It's obvious that Devon has background in music. You cannot get this kind of guitar knowledge from research. He not only knows music but he knows guitar and plays it. Even for someone like me, who never played guitar, but loves this particular instrument, it's pleasure to read story of Victory and especially those moments when she plays. I have just one wish. More in depth descriptions of what she, or Kellan, feel when she/they play. More about what music is for them, not music, only but especially guitar music. I personally recognize bands by guitar players. There has to be something VERY special about those that are guitar masters to be recognizable by others just by playing few chords. I would like to read in Devon's book what that "IT" factor is because it looks like both Victory and Kellan have it.
I have one more kind of complaint - did it have to be that short? I just immerse myself in reading and it's the end. Seriously.... I want more!!!
