Lowcountry Boneyard A Liz Talbot Mystery Volume 3 Susan M Boyer Books
Liz Talbot resident of Stella Maris, SC, has a new case. Liz, partner of Talbot and Andrews P.I., has been hired to find the missing heiress, Amelia Kent Rivers Heyward, better known as Kent. Kent has been missing over a month and the case quickly became cold when the local police could not find any leads. It seems everyone has tight alibis and short of two transactions on her credit card, there is no trace of life.Liz, having met with Mr. Colton Heyward, is positive that he is innocent and truly looking for his daughter. The wife, mother? Well, something is up with her and her relationship to even more wealth, the Bounetheaus.
When a box arrives carrying a rattlesnake and other threats are made, Liz knows there is far more to this case than a simple missing persons.
Liz also is in love with her partner, Nate Andrews. It isn't running as smoothly as she wished. Liz, for reasons known only to herself and the spiritual guide (ghost) Colleen, has to stay on the island. It is crucial to protect Stella Maris from developers. Not to mention, Colleen can save her life now and then.
This book touches the worlds of art, wealth, and greed. Mainly though, it touches the tangled web on interrelationships within families when lies are protected instead of being revealed.

Lowcountry Boneyard A Liz Talbot Mystery Volume 3 Susan M Boyer Books Reviews
Another great one from Susan. This (series in general) is considered a cozy, but the actual mystery bit is more detailed that most cozies. (Plus the protagonist is not an armature detective, but rather a seasoned PI.) I think this makes it feel more 'real' than a lot of the cozy books. The main characters (Liz and her partner Nate) are smart and they often had ideas (about the crime) that I would have never thought about. There is some humor, and a bit of romance. All the characters are interesting and fun. Plenty of suspects and you won't know the truth until the end. There is also a slight paranormal aspect to it as well. It reads easily and flows smoothly. It is a clean read (with just some very minor language.)
We did a lot of Mullin` and ponderin`, but in the end, it's a wonderful read. Boyer spins her tale logically, and at the same time, the story is so well written with clever quips and Lowcountry references, it makes the reader stay up all night, simply unable to put the book down. Adding the "haint," Coleen just adds another layer of interest and amusement. She's a hoot! Boyer elegantly paints Mango skies, live Oaks dropping with Spanish Moss, and shrimp n` grits uniquely belonging to the South Carolina Lowcounty. I'm leaving Easley, moving to Edisto Beach as soon as possible. My husband will be thrilled.
Outstanding writer and excellent plot and character development. I have read all 3 and hope this author keeps writing! Really enjoyed the expanded role Colleen (the guardian spirit) played in this book. Author does an excellent job of keeping the plot and characters credible. Even with an often amusing (but always important) appearance by the protagonist's guardian spirit, it never seems at all "woo-woo" - just believable and very southern. I especially enjoy that Liz is a strong, smart and independent woman versus a "damsel in distress". One suggestion for the author -- and not mine alone - I have two friends who also purchased this book and we were just discussing it this weekend and they are in adamant agreement. Please, please consider either getting Rhett a full time pal or do more to show that he is an important member of the family versus an afterthought. That is the only aspect of the series that caused me to rate it 4 stars versus a 5 and I am not alone in that choice.
Liz Talbot and her partner Nate run an Agency that does P.I. work in two separate places. The plot centers around a missing girl from a very good Southern family who left under mysterious circumstances. The Police feel like the case is cold but they don't have Liz's instincts nor her guardian angel Colleen. They don't have all the facts either.
The Mystery moves at a steady pace around a solid group of characters. People in this book are recognizable in the South with its complex mix of family money and loyalty. The plot was polished, yet had its moments of humor and romance cooked with a side order of menus that made me want to go visit. I may just have to eat at one of those Restaurants eventually that the town is so famous for. I enjoyed the book and feel I can recommend it for People like me that enjoy the mix.
What the Charleston, SC, police are considering as a routine missing persons case quickly turns deadly for PI Liz Talbot and her partner/boyfriend, Nate Andrews when she asks too many questions to the wrong people and gets a rattlesnake in a box for her troubles. But that doesn’t stop Liz from investigating, all while trying to juggle the relationship with her partner, keep her extended family happy, and figure out what her dead best friend is going to do next.
This third entry in a well-written series does not disappoint. I love watching Liz work and maintain her independence while navigating a complicated job/home situation, and an even more complicated home life. And who wouldn’t want a bff like Collee, the forever-seventeen-year-old bff who as a spirit guide (don’t call her a ghost) is responsible for keeping Stella Marris Island and those who love it safe from harm so they may continue to protect it from encroaching bad development.
Boyer captures the rhythms and dialogue of the South, gracious southern living, and complex family relationships, perfectly. The dialogue is always smooth, the plots entertaining, and the paranormal elements handled in a believable way (I like my spirits plausible and non-sparkly, and this fits the bill).
This story captured my attention so thoroughly, it made 45 minutes on the recumbent bike fly by in a blink. The ending came as a complete surprise to me, but it was still very satisfying. I liked book 3 so much, I immediately purchased book 4. I’m pleased to see there are a few more after that, as Liz is someone I’ve come to think of as a friend, albeit a fictional one, and I really want to know how her life turns out.
